We flew out of JFK airport late at night on September 12th, arriving at Cairo at about 4:30 PM their time. After making our way through Cairo traffic (not a pastime for the faint of heart) we arrived with the other member of our tour at the very elegant Cairo Marriot Hotel. This hotel had once been a palace situated in the heart of Cairo and on an island in the Nile River. It has been returned to its original elegance and had two towers built for the use of the guests. We managed to get through dinner and unpack a little bit before collapsing.
