The ship sailed late in the morning for Aswan. We traveled into the mountains and saw a granite quarry. We also saw an unfinished obelisk. As it was being formed, a crack developed so it was abandoned there. Next we visited the new Aswan High Dam. The construction of this dam created Lake Nassar. The creation of the lake endangered a number of temples. We visited the temple of Philae, which had been moved to a neighboring island close to its original location.
