We arrived at Valparaiso, Chile and spent the day on a tour bus until finally arriving at the airport for our flight home. First we toured Valparaiso, a port town built into the mountains.

I guess we finally ran out of ambition. We just spent a few hours wandering around town. The town had many German settlers, and their influence is evident in the cathedral below, made entirely of a redwood tree.

It was a spectacular flight, but … it wasn’t Antarctica. Meanwhile, David was on a trip to more penguins. He took a bus and ferry to Magdalena islands, home of about 70,000 Magellanic penguins. After our travels, during a break in the weather, we took a short trip into town to wander around before calling it a day.
